P.o.P Ministries' HeartSongs Concert Raises over $2000.00 for local charities, SNAP and Crosswalk
As P.o.P. Ministries (People of the Promise), puts HeartSongs 2007 away and begins to look toward HeartSongs 2008, we are again so thankful for the awesome generosity we received from the Spokane community. Because of thier support, after covering all of the costs, we were able to contribute over $1000.00 to Spokane Neighborhood Action Program (SNAP) and over $1000.00 to Crosswalk (a division of Volunteers of America).

This money will go directly to help homeless and low-income families, children and seniors. These organizations goal is to serve the most vulnerable people living within our Spokane community.
Crosswalk states, “Our work starts with the basics — caring for, supporting and sheltering people that most of society has forgotten. But we don’t stop there. People don’t really get back on their feet until their self-worth has been restored, until they start believing in themselves and what they can accomplish. That’s what our programs are all about.”
SNAP works for low-income and vulnerable people by:
- Providing human services, housing and economic opportunities in a manner, which enhances dignity
- Advocating for programs, policies and resources that maximize individual capacities and promote communities
We received so much support … from printing to filming to stage assistance even a beautiful tux for our MC. The day was proclaimed by both the City and the County as “HeartSongs… from the Edge of the World Day”. What an honor it was to have Mayor Hession attend and speak at the event. Covenant Christian Church engaged involvement from their Youth Group to the Elders in making this concert run seamlessly. Over 100 people from all corners of our community were involved in the production. Our goal was not only to provide assistance to SNAP and Crosswalk, but to raise awareness about the nature of homelessness and put a human face on homelessness. …we certainly did that. We can all be very proud of our accomplishments.
Our advisory board is already busy building on the success of the 2007 event to create more awareness in 2008 and provide even greater assistance to these organizations.
We want to sincerely thank our generous sponsors for their support of our vision.
